Louisiana Department of Agriculture

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) is responsible for promoting, protecting, and advancing Louisiana’s $11.7 billion agriculture and forestry industries. The agency oversees animal health, food safety and consumer protection, plant and soil conservation, pesticide regulation, and forest management—including wildfire prevention and response—to ensure a safe food supply and sustain the state’s natural resources.

The LSU AgCenter provides research-based information and educational opportunities through off-campus research stations and Cooperative Extension offices in all 64 Louisiana parishes. Working in tandem with the LSU College of Agriculture, the AgCenter focuses on advancing sustainable crop and livestock production, natural resource conservation, community health and nutrition, and 4-H youth development to improve the economy and quality of life across the state.
