NC Farm & Ranch Stress Assistance Network
NC Farm & Ranch Stress Assistance Network is a program of the North Carolina Agromedicine Institute that connects farmers, fishermen, foresters, farm workers, families, and others living or working in agriculture-related settings with stress assistance programs and resources. Through a 24/7 confidential helpline, free professional counseling, a Farmer-to-Farmer peer support network, and suicide prevention training, NC FRSAN works to reduce stigma and protect the physical and emotional well-being of North Carolina’s agricultural workforce.
North Carolina Agromedicine Institute
The North Carolina Agromedicine Institute is a University of North Carolina inter-institutional partnership among East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, and North Carolina A&T State University. It works to protect the health and safety of farmers, fishermen, foresters, and their families by delivering evidence-based research, occupational health screenings, safety education, and non-regulatory wellness resources statewide.
NC State Extension
Serving as the primary outreach arm of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University, NC State Extension extends research-based knowledge to communities across all 100 North Carolina counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. In partnership with N.C. A&T State University, federal, state, and local governments, it delivers practical solutions, technology, and educational programming focused on sustaining agriculture and forestry, protecting the environment, empowering 4-H youth, and strengthening local families and economies statewide.
NC A&T State University Cooperative Extension
Operating as the educational outreach division of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T delivers research-based knowledge and educational programming across North Carolina. As part of an 1890 land-grant university, the agency focuses on providing accessible solutions to small, limited-resource, and historically underserved farmers, individuals, and families. Its initiatives span small farm support, 4-H youth STEM programs, family health and nutrition, and community economic development to improve quality of life statewide.
NC AgrAbility
NC AgrAbility works to enable farmers, ranchers, foresters, fishermen, and agricultural workers with disabilities, injuries, or long-term health conditions to continue working safely and productively in agriculture. The program provides free on-farm technical assessments, assistive technology recommendations, ergonomic adaptations, educational workshops, and peer support networks to enhance independence and safety across North Carolina’s agricultural sector.
